Tebolan forte 40mg
Mode and duration of application :
Composition :
One film-coated tablet contains :
Dry extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves (35 - 67:1) 40 mg.
The extract is standardized to 8.8 - 10.8 mg flavone
glycosides, 2.0 - 2.8 mg terpene lactones, of which 1.12 - 1.36 mg ginkgolides
A,B,C and 1.04 - 1.28 mg bilobalide and contains less than 0.2 mg ginkgolic
acids for each film-coated tablet .
Indications :
For the symptomatic treatment of disturbances in cerebral
performance due to organic brain syndrome within the framework of a general
therapeutic concept for demential syndromes (decrease or loss in acquired mental
abilities) having as major symptoms :
Deficient memory, disturbances of concentration, depressive mood, dizziness,
tinnitus and headache.
Note :
Prior to starting treatment with Ginkgo extract,
clarification should be obtained as to whether the pathological symptoms
encountered are not based on an underlying disease requiring a specific
treatment .
Improvement of the pain-free walking distance in peripheral arterial occlusive
disease in FONTAINE stage II (intermittent claudication) within the framework of
physical therapeutical measures, in particular walking training .
Vertigo, tinnitus of vascular and involutional origin (dizziness, tinnitus as a
result of circulatory disorders or age-related regressive phenomena) .
Contraindications :
Hypersensitivity to Ginkgo biloba extracts.
Note :
As there are no sufficient examinations available concerning
the application of this preparation in children, it should not be used in
children under 12 years of age .
Since Ginkgo extracts have not yet been sufficiently
investigated in case of depressive mood and headache not related to demential
syndromes, Tebolan forte 40 mg may only be used for these symptoms when taking
into consideration and applying all necessary precautions .
Adverse reactions :
In very rare cases, slight gastrointestinal disturbances,
headache or allergic skin reactions have been observed after administration of
Tebolan forte 40 mg.
Drug interactions :
It cannot be assessed whether the case of a spontaneous
hyphema after combined intake of a Ginkgo-biloba-containing pharmaceutical and
aspirin is caused by an interaction of these two pharmaceuticals. In a
placebo-controlled double-blind study in subjects, interactions of EGb 761Ò
(daily dose 240 mg) with acetyl salicylic acid (daily dose 500 mg) could not be
demonstrated .
Dosage with indication of single and daily doses :
Demential syndrome :
1-2 film-coated tablets (corresponding to 40 to 80 mg Ginkgo
extract) to be taken 3 times per day .
Peripheral arterial occlusive disease, vertgo, tinnitus :
1 film-coated tablet (corresponding to 40 mg Ginkgo extract)
to be taken 3 times per day or 2 film-coated tablets (corresponding to 80 mg
Ginkgo extract) to be taken 2 times per day .

Mode of administration :
Film-coated tablets are to be taken unchewed with some
liquid. The intake is independent of meals .
Duration of
administration :
- Demential syndrome :
The duration of the treatment depends on the
severity of symptoms and should last for at least 8 weeks in this chronic
disease .
- Peripheral arterial occlusive
disease . Vertigo, tinnitus :
Duration of the treatment should last for at
least 6 to 8 weeks.
